AD 933 — A castle built to endure
In AD 933, Rudolph II ordered Spiez Castle built on the shore of Lake Thun. It has weathered over a millennium — passed through dynasties, each one building upon what came before. Never tearing down. Always refining.

05 — DER GEIST VON SPIEZ
The Miracle of Bern, born in Spiez
1954. West Germany's underdog team sets up base in Spiez, on the quiet shore of Lake Thun. On July 4, in pouring rain in Bern, they defeat the “unbeatable” Hungary 3–2. Das Wunder von Bern — and the team spirit behind it was named Der Geist von Spiez.
